Some students struggle with math. These are the students who are usually out in the hall for misbehaving, quiet and withdrawn because they don't know the answers or complaining of headaches or stomach problems from the suffering of learning math. The signs of poor math skills come in many forms, but the message is always the same. These students don't understand numbers.


There is a way to reach these students. To help these students a teacher or parent needs to be patient, energetic and above all willing to think outside of the box. Traditional ways of teaching math simply will not work with these students. Here you will find an example of one the methods you can use to reach a student in elementary school. It is a method that has been refined over many years and has worked with hundreds of students.


There is a story, one of several stories, which actually changes how a child looks at math. Although it is an easy story to learn, it is very specific in design. It reaches auditory, kinesthetic and visual learners and includes mnemonic devices to make numbers easy to remember. It can reach students that have struggled with math for years. It is actually more effective with younger students as it helps create an understanding of math before bad habits like finger counting develop.


The story is simple: Your mother is chasing a spider around the house when she swings and accidentally breaks the window.


For parents, this story is one you can teach to a child anywhere such as in the car on your way to soccer practice, in the living room during a commercial or while taking a walk to the corner store. You can embellish the story and make it more personal, laughing about how much Mom freaks out about the spider. You can even have the child imagine the story in great detail, talking about how big the spider is and how loud it is when the window shatters. Although the core of the story can't be changed, it is a story that will taught uniquely by each individual teacher or parent who will add their own style and energy.


This story includes several mnemonic devices. Each image represents a specific part of a math fact, for example the number eight is represented by a spider which has a body that looks like an eight and has eight legs. It includes personal connections (Mom), imagery (a black spider), and actions (breaking the window) which will make the story stick in both the short term and long term memory. It also uses tangible images like a golf club and a spider that can be remembered more easily than abstract concepts. In short, it is a story that can be easily remembered.


The usual way for a student to learn eight times nine is to add nine together eight times. Not only is this time consuming, it is also boring. By nature this method creates confusion with other math facts as none are distinct from the others. It is easy to mix up seven times eight with six times nine. The traditional method of drill and practice takes many hours and often only reaches a few of the students in a class.


In contrast, teaching math by using vivid images of a memorable story will produce markedly different results. When asked what eight times nine is a student will recall the image for eight (a spider) and nine (golf) and the story that goes with them. They will easily remember that the house (the bigger image) represents seventy as the roof is shaped like a seven and the window (the smaller image) represents two since it has two curtains. This connects all the numbers, making it easy to remember that eight times nine is seventy two. It will work for the reverse (division) just as easily. With less than twenty unique but specific stories to learn, learning the times tables can be a fun adventure.


With all due respect to the traditions that have been successful for many students, there is a way to reach those it hasn't worked for.

tips to get high mark in math test


many students work hard to get high mark in math exam but t they don't do as well as they expected. here there are some tips that help students to get high mark in math exam :


  • you should work regularly on your math homework and do you home work after the class because if you don't work regularly you will find big difficult in study your lessons.

  • before the exam work to cover all lessons by solving sample problems and write notes on what each section is about.

  • try to make a summary for the hard problems and describe each problem type.

  • don't forget review the theorems , shapes and definitions.

Tips for Success in math


every student like to be superior. i think that to be superior you need to work hard and be Patient. here there are some tips to help you for success in MATH.


1 - you need to organize you time and choose the best time to study math. don't study at time you feel fatigue and don't study at time you feel Sleepy .

2- choose to right way in your study. you should choose the way which help you in understanding you lesson . for instance some of my students who don't like math try to Memorizing the geometrical theorems with out understand it therefore they don't learn any thing.

3-to be great in math you should solve problems as much as you can. try to solve different ideas.

4-if you can't find solution for a problem try to search for it and if you find it try to understand it. 

5- Visit your instructor during office hours to get help in problems which you cannot solve . 

6-Don't be afraid to ask questions in class. There are always other students in class who have the same questions but are too shy too ask.

7- Review your class notes and try reworking the problems the instructor did in class. Many students say "I understand it perfectly when you do it, but I get stuck when I try to work the problem myself." Reworking the problems the instructor did in class will help reinforce what you have learned. 

8 - try to do your math home work as soon after class as possible.

when i start teaching math i found alotof kids hate it. at first i couldn't deal with this kids.Because they were not like math and could not understand  the lesson easily.But then I realized the importance of math games for them. it can help me in making math fun for my kids. especially kids who think that math is all too confusing and frustrating.

Math is important in nurturing a child's education. Interactive games provide teachers and parent the support they need. It enhances mathematical development and curiosity. how to make learning math fun



Parents use math marks as a guideline to see if their children’s math have improved, there is nothing wrong with it. My personal experience is that I will feel much relaxed if my tutored student has improved to a stage that math tutoring is fun for both of us. The atmosphere is very relaxed and I can see that the student is enjoying the fun of math learning. The student’s attitude and facial expression are all very relaxed and student's reaction is very exciting and happy. 



So what makes math learning fun? It definitely is not just school math marks. If a math learning centre is only concentrating on improving a student’s math marks then this alone will not make students feel math learning is fun, it only makes them feel good because their parents may be very happy, still many will not feel fun in math learning. Students think math learning fun is because they really enjoy the thrill of working out or discovering solutions on their own. They enjoy the feelings of discovery and this feeling makes them feel math learning is not boring. The feeling of fun math learning comes from the feeling of students themselves, not from just getting A in math marks. 



How can I tell if students are enjoying math? How can I tell if my children are enjoying the food cooked by me? It is because the expression and body language my children have expressed made me know that children are enjoying The same feeling applies to children when they working on math, if children are truly enjoying math then their body languages and feelings are very different from those who do not truly enjoy working on math. 



How to make math enjoyable for children? Why math normally does not make children feel enjoyable? Mainly because many math worksheets have not been created in an innovative way. Teacher in the classroom is leader. in the cooperative learning teacher should do some tasks.
1) teacher should choose the topic which will be taught and sets the aim from this topic and organizes students in groups.To do this teacher should be has Knowledge about the topic
2)form the groups and choose the form of the groups.teacher should make the every group is dissimilar.

3)Identify the major tasks and sub-tasks and guide learners.
4) provide learners with guidelines for work and choose coordinator for each group and determine his role and responsibilities.
5)Encourage learners to collaborate and help each other and provide assistance in times of need .sure from the interaction of members of the group.

Forms of cooperative education


A)the collective learning teams: here the education of members of one group a collective responsibility through the following steps 

  • Teacher organizes students in cooperative groups according to their wishes and inclinations towards the study of a specific problem, and one group consisting of (2-6) of the members
  • Choose individual subjects in the problem and sets the goals, tasks, and distribute it to members of the group.
  • Identify sources and activities and educational materials that will be used
  • Involving members of each group in accomplishing the task entrusted to them.
  • Each group will present its final report to the rest of the groups.

B) shared teams
  • Divides learners into groups completely equal, then the learning material is divided by the number of members of each group being allocated to each member of the group, part of the subject or article.
  • Requests from members of the group responsible for the same part of the all groups meet together at a meeting of experts, to examine and the section dedicated to them and then return to their groups to teach what they have learned.
  • Test  groups individual tests and  the group whose  members get the highest score is winner


C) Teams learning together
  • Learners aim to achieve one common goal, where learners are divided into teams help each other in the duties and tasks, and understand the material in the classroom and outside.
  • The Group provides a report on their work and compete with each other, including its assistance to its members.
  • Groups arranged by  the results of achievement tests and the quality of reports submitted.

Cooperative Learning

Cooperative learning is a way of learning, dividing students into small groups is not homogeneous  Collaborating students per group in achieving the common objective or objectives.

Learning opportunities that are unique to collaborative learning:
  • Learners can access to real learning, learners ask questions, and discuss ideas, and they fall in errors, and learn art of listening, and receive constructive criticism as well as it provides opportunities to summarize what they have learned in the form of a report.  
  • Provides opportunities to ensure the success of all learners, mutual dependence requires the learners to help them learn the concepts and master the skills learned by the group.
  • Learners use logical thinking in their discussions, where that persuasion can only be through the use of logical thinking.
  • Learner learns by talking, listening, explanation and interpretation and thinking with others and with himself.    
Stages of cooperative learning:

First stage: Acquaintance between students
 understand the problem or task  and to be done about it and the time allocated for joint action to solve them. 

Second stage: the stage of development of criteria of collective action. 
  at this stage we try to make distribution of roles and ways of cooperation, identification of collective responsibilities and how to take the joint decision, and how to respond to the views of members of the group and the skills needed to solve the problem at hand.  

third stage : Productivity.
We request to engage in work by members of the group and cooperation in achieving the desired according to the principles and agreed standards.

Fourth stage Termination
 in this stage, stop working and display the findings of the group in the dialogue session

If Your Child Needs Help in Math, Here’s What You Can Do to Help

Your child may have been coming home lately complaining about math class saying that he just doesn’t understand. It’s the worse subject known to man, and has, in fact, declared math to be the stupidest thing there ever was!  Well parents, don’t despair. I offer to you my best suggestions of what you can do help your child not necessarily to love math, but be better able to tolerate it, and be more successful with it.

First, encourage your child.  Explain that sometimes in life we are faced with great challenges and unforeseen obstacles that we must ultimately overcome victoriously.  In the end, these challenges make us greater people.  “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” so just encourage your child to continue to build on their already existing skills.

Second, turn everyday life into a math problem.  Use fractions for measurement during cooking. You can add, subtract, multiply, and even divide fractions in your daily meal preparation. Calculate the distance traveled leaving from home to school.  Calculate how long it would take to arrive at school at the speed you are traveling.  Add up the total miles traveled in a day and the amount of gallons of gas used. Calculate the cost of refueling the car with gas. The point is to begin to speak more mathematically, making it more natural for your child.  This is a fun way to learn math, and it shows your child that we use math in our ever day lives.

Third, make sure that your child reviews his math lesson for 15 minutes each night, even if there is no assigned homework.  The goal is to get your child to practice, practice, and practice.  He will retain the information longer and will build a much stronger mathematical foundation.

Fourth, become knowledgeable about your state’s mathematics curriculum standards.  It helps you to understand what your child must accomplish in order for you to effectively help him.  It is also helpful for when you must speak to your child’s teacher about his performance.  Teachers will often speak about curriculum standards and mathematical skills using education jargon with the assumption that the parent knows about them.  They do not do this intentionally though.  Ask questions and familiarize yourself by going to your state department of education’s website to find the math standards for your child’s grade level.   Sometimes these websites provide links to helpful activities for you and your child.

Fifth, communicate regularly with your child’s teacher.  Teachers love hearing from parents about their children.  They are more than happy and willing to share with you your child’s successes and areas needing improvement.  So, make sure to get that teacher’s email address.  I highly regard this as one of the most effective ways to keep in touch with a very busy teacher.  If problems or concerns are too large to send in an email, then request a conference with your child’s teacher.

Help Me Teach Math To My Child

We have to move on class.” Has your child ever been told this by their teacher?
Math for some students, just seems to fly right over their heads. Has your child ever stated “I am really trying to listen to my teacher, but I don’t understand anything he or she is writing on the board ” When you find this is the case for your child, in order to help, what’s key is taking one concept at a time, just one, because chances are your child is feeling overwhelmed by the whole idea of math. Upon taking that one concept the two of you are working on, you may need to cut way back on your explanation in helping your child to understand.
When working with students, I discovered some of them were afraid to show they didn't know a particular concept, because as far as they were concerned, they were supposed to understand, yet they didn’t. I had to help them see, it was safe to let me know this. The manner in which I worked with them was one of warmth, never of ridicule or surprise if the child did not understand. If the environment felt unsafe to a child, they shut right off. When I exhibited support, immediately I would experience relief in my student and subsequently a willingness on the student’s part to ‘give it a go’.
In my 5th grade classes I found routinely, some of the kids did not know what a fraction was and therefore were unable to move forward into adding, understanding equivalent fractions, changing mixed numbers to improper fractions and the reverse. In fact when I began teaching 5th grade, I had to relearn concepts. I also realized parents sometimes needed to do the same. What I did routinely was cut back for the students. I could never assume they understood a concept at some pre-decided level. I regularly started from square A. For instance with fractions, I would show them how a fraction worked. I would draw a circle and divide it into 3 parts, shade in the 1 to show just what 1/3 meant. I would spend perhaps two days having them practice strictly drawing fractions; 2/5, 3/10 etc.
Finding your child’s level of entry needs to be done with every new concept you and your child take on. The amount you need to cut back can vary significantly one concept to the next. Your child may be great at determining area, but may be having it rough with angles. Take it a step at a time. This is how the math concept as a whole will be mastered, one step at a time. Once your child has moved up the line, then they will be able to calculate the multi-step problems that go hand in hand with math.
At homework time or whenever you are working with your child, let your child know, you are there to help him or her get it, and that you will work with them to ensure that happens. Set a clear goal of just how much work your child will need to accomplish. Once your child understands the steps of how to do a particular type of problem, cut them loose on their own. Then check a problem periodically to see how they are coming along. If wrong answers are appearing, many times with multiple step problems, they may be calculating incorrectly only one of the steps. If this is the case, help your child see that Hey, it's only this one step of five, so that's not so bad Once you handle the missed step, all should sail smoothly from there Then rejoice with a cookie and a “Good going ” to your child.
So again, find your child’s true level of entry on a concept. Let them know it’s ok if they do not understand something. Work the concept, one step at a time. Set up expectations. If your child is doing multi-step problems and getting them wrong, check to see if it’s perhaps just one step they are confused on. And .. .. . don’t forget to rejoice with a “Good going.” Very important, that last step.

put the total of the two digit between the two digits

ex :  34×11=374 

3 + 4 = 7 then output is 374

if the total of the two digit is greater than 9 then we add one to number left and put the single digit of the total between the two number 
ex : 67 × 11 = 737

6 + 7 = 13 then we add one to 6 to become 7 then we put single digit of total between the two digits to become 737

 1-  To square No component of nines only Quickly and without multiplying :

We write from the left a number of Nines one less than the number of Nines in the number and then write 8 and then write the number of zeros equal to the Nines, which prescribe the number and then write one

ex1 :  999 × 999 square of the number quickly without multiplying we write only 99 then 8 to become the number 998 and add two zeros become number 99 800 and finally add 1 and becomes the final output: 998 001

ex2 :to square ( 9999 × 9999)  we write only 999 then 8 to become 99980001

Teaching Your Child Problem Solving Skills

The main cause why some children are aggressive and are "always angry with the world" is that they have no idea how to solve problems. This lack of problem solving skills let kids turn to aggression and disrespectful behavior. One sign that a child does not have the proper problem solving skills is when he tries to solve all his social problems physically.

So whether your child is already an active preschooler or is still preparing for his first day, teaching him problem solving skills will help him cope with the challenges at home and in school. However, you have to realize that the term "problem solving" does not necessarily mean solving a math problem or an assignment.

When you hear experts tell you to teach your children problem solving skills, what they mean is to teach your kids all about emotional coping and learning to cross the stormy waters of childhood, and eventually, life. Parents should teach their children as early as possible how to handle certain situations and what to do about it.

While still young, parents should take the chance to teach their kids how to do things without resorting to aggression or inappropriate behavior. Young children are very prone to tantrums. When things do not go their way, it makes them angry and frustrated and they can get violent. Especially since young children have limited self control, getting into a fit is a very easy thing for them to do.

Anything can set up a child's tantrum. For example, you and your child went to the mall. He told you that he wanted to buy a new toy, but you refused because he already had one on his birthday. But he insists, because this one is the new version. But you still refused, so he begins to get angry and starts screaming.

You are there on the spot, with all the other moms and people at the mall looking at you? How do you help your child work through these issues? Well, there are a few things that you can do to teach your child some problem solving skills.

First, you need to find out what the problem is. Perhaps your child is having problems identifying the cause of his frustrations. As a parent, it will not be that hard for you to know what is going on in your child's life. After he calms down, ask him quietly why he got so mad and then together, help him think why he was so angry.

Help your child come up with alternative solutions and help him weigh the consequences. When your child figures out what is really making him upset, help him think of ways to solve the problem and help him look at all his options and evaluate the potential consequences.

How and Why Teachers Are Making Math Fun For the High School Student

High failure rates in the subject of math and concerns that students are not learning the math skills they need has caused many parents and teachers to find better sources for supplementing their child's education. Many of these math resources are found online and to this day are being developed, tested and reviewed due to the high demand for better math skills. Within the last few years the results are in and prove to be highly successful.
Math can be fun but regrettably, students, teachers and administrators are concerned that math has not been enjoyable or fun for the student thus, they lose interest in the process of learning. This has prompted the concerned to research new ways to teach math, new ways to learn math and new ways to enjoy a subject that has a reputation of disinterest among the youth.
These teachers, parents, mathematicians and developers have committed to designing new programs, math games, camps, and stirred up enthusiasm for math over the last few years. They are starting to see a positive result in the college entrance exams.
Homeschool families have had the same concerns of the main stream of educators and in the past teaching homeschool math was approached with tripedation. They were apprehensive and would attribute a low exam score to their skills. Although, a student can learn how to solve equations it was more desirable that they learn solid math skills that would give them a better foundation for their everyday adult life. This experience has caused the homeschool family to make math learning a priority through available materials that can be found online and on hand. This also caused the student to engage in online learning which has been found to be desired due to the visual and electronic preference among this generation.
Many of the problems in math were found in the simple task of how the students were taking notes in class. Teachers and parents realized students were going to class and only writing an equation which could not be reiterated at home or during studies. However, online math tutoring and studies allowed the student to engage in a process that follows the whole audible, visual and tactile educational process.
With this system, the online math courses allowed the student to learn without a "lecturing teacher" at their own pace which was found to be faster. Students proved to learn math skills earlier and faster with this type of "hands on" and activity based learning experience.
Sadly, many classrooms in the public and private school systems did not have this type of learning and did not have the computers to allow this educational provision. As a result, they did not fare as well as the online student with online math resources available to them.
In conclusion, the activity-based curriculum appeals to the different learning styles and ended in higher levels of success whereas the "old school" math curriculum which is spent on practicing math problems and listening to audible lectures did not suffice which ended in low test scores in math.
Hopefully, the future of our nation's success in math related subjects will be pushed to higher levels of advancement through online math learning and online math resources, the achievement of our future generations will have a new found excitement and enthusiasm for its many dimensions of the subject and our world will be better served in many of the industries that are mathematically based.

The dislike for math is widespread among school going kids. You will often come across comments like 'math is very boring', 'I don't like math' or 'math has no use in real life'. Parents find it difficult to help their child when he or she hates math. However, a little effort on the part of the parents can make math fun their child. Most kids do not like math because as a culture we have trouble bringing math to life. The majority of Teachers teach the subject as they were taught and the system is in an endless spiral of repeated practices.
You can make it an interesting subject by assigning math tasks to your child. Since you know better than the school teacher what are the likes and dislikes of your child, you can teach your child math by the activities he likes. For example, you can give him candies to distribute among your family members. Tell him how he can divide the total number of candies so that each member gets an equal amount. You can take him to shop with you and give him the task to add the total price of things you have bought. You can teach proportion to your child by assigning him the task to collect the ingredients of a recipe. This will teach him proportions. And after your child masters these basic concepts you can assign him more complicated tasks. But always remember to help your child if he finds any difficulty in completing the task.
Children hold the view that math has no role to perform in real life. Kids need to understand that math is all around them, in their bicycles, paintings or houses. The problem is that they can learn how to ride a bicycle without studying math. These types of questions generate a general disliking for math in schools.
